We hosted Friendsmas last night, our third annual since moving from Utah to North Carolina. The very first year I said I’d make buttermilk syrup, my friend was like okay want me to bring butter or syrup. I was like oooooh you have never had buttermilk syrup! You don’t know how much you’ve been missing out on!
2 cups of Sugar
1 cup of butter
1 cup buttermilk
1/2 t vanilla
1/2 T baking soda
I always make mine in a big cast iron. I melt the butter on low/medium, add sugar and combine. Next add in buttermilk, stir all together. Add vanilla next, then the baking powder.
Don’t over mix!
It will make it go flat.
It will expand a little so use a big enough pan
It also stores great in refrigerator for a few days so make extra pancakes to re-heat.
For Friendsmas we always have the same menu:
Pancakes, buttermilk syrup and bacon
Kids have fun with the hot chocolate bar.
Hope you make it too and start a new tradition!
